Goal of the Workshop
This workshop aims to practice and develop skills in Concept ideation, one of the most important aspects of design, and bringing that idea from 2D conception to life with 3D techniques.
Participants will take idea that they developed in Jourdan’s class and make a small prop within that world in Kay Tang’s class.
Jourdan Tuffan
Jourdan is a Concept Artist who has been working in industry since 2014 & got his big break working at Atomhawk Design, where he contributed to various AAA projects. He then transitioned to freelance work, working as an Art Director for an indie studio called Everlight Worlds and collaborated with clients such as Lo-fi Girl and Netflix.

Kay Tang
Kay is a Freelance Concept Artist who has been working in industry since 2019 with clients worldwide, with experience working on AAA game titles and VFX projects. She specialises in prop design, particularly on fantasy based projects and has worked on projects for companies such as Marvel, Bandai Namco and Grinding Gear Games.

Brainstorming and Idea Generation for Concept Art
Learn Jourdan's go-to methods for creating unique, functional ideas that feel alive.
Jourdan will walk you through his brainstorming & mind-mapping process. This will give you a reliable way to tackle a brief & ensure your ideas hit both narrative & functional goals.
2D Sketchbashing for Concept Design
Jourdan will focus on his unique sketchbashing process, where he’ll show you how to create unexpected & unique shapes by setting up happy accidents. Everything will tie back to the ideas generated during brainstorming.
PART II | 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM :
3D Sketching
Learn how to break down the daunting task of starting a 3D design into manageable steps. (Overcoming the fear of making a decision)
Mastering the skill of using high 3D workflow to create designs from start to finish, while keeping the consideration for the structure and functionality of the design.
Resource Pack Provided
Kay will provide a resource pack that contains:
- Basic Ready to render Blender scene for high quality presentation
- Small assets that have been instanced - e.g wooden planks, bricks, iron strips, hanging cloth bits, etc.
Requirements:
2D Drawing program, ie. Adobe Photoshop, Krita, etc.
Basic understanding in Blender navigation
Laptop with 3D Blender (or any other 3D Program you can poly model in)
Resource Pack from Kay Tang’s course (We will send to attendees before the workshop)
Pen \ Notebook \ Ipad for notes taking
Extra Information:
1 hour lunch break with small breaks in between the workshops. Lunch is provided. (Please let us know if you have any allergies or prefer a vegetarian option.)
Industry Professional Concept artists will stand by as support during the workshop. (Great opportunity to learn and network.)
